FSI Appraisal Company was first established in 1986 as a subsidiary of a Western Massachusetts savings bank. In 1990, the company was purchased by its current owner, Stephen A. Brunelle.
In addition to providing appraisal services to many of the leading local, regional and national lenders, FSI Appraisal provides real estate appraisal and consulting services to the legal profession, local, state, and federal governmental agencies, real estate developers, investors and the general public.
FSI currently employs three residential appraisers and three commercial appraisers.

Stephen A. Brunelle, President has over thirty-years of real estate and banking experience.
After graduating from American International College in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Stephen began a career in appraisal work for a Western Massachusetts bank. His training includes successful completion of course work sponsored by the Appraisal Institute and the Massachusetts Board of Real Estate Appraisers.
Stephen holds a General Certification License from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, #233, and
- Has served on the Board of Directors for the former Western Massachusetts Chapter of the Appraisal Institute,
- Has participated as a speaker and panelist in numerous educational presentations, and
- Has testified as an expert witness in Probate Court, District Court, Superior Court and U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
Properties that Stephen has appraised include single and multi-family residential properties, commercial and industrial properties, raw land and land development.
Stephen is active in the community having coached little league baseball for many years in the Town of Southampton, MA, and
- Has served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Nonotuck Valley Hockey Association and served as its treasurer for 2-years.
- He is a past board member of the Hampshire Regional YMCA and also served as its treasurer and vice president,
- Stephen is past president of the Generators of the Northampton Chamber of Commerce, and
- Currently serves as a board member for the Easthampton Friends for Football.
Claudia V. Borowski, Office Manager, has been employed at FSI since 1991. Claudia brings energy and experience to her position and oversees the day to day operation. Besides being the person that handles all appraisal inquires, she is responsible for the assignment of work and the timely transmission of reports to FSI's clients.

Gary L. Aldrich (MA Certified General License #75488)
Gary has over fifteen-years of analytical and statistics experience including eight-years in the real estate industry as a real estate appraiser.
After graduating from Westfield State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management in 1996, Gary began his career with Enterprise Rent-A-Car. There, Gary was thoroughly trained in statistical analysis and residual computations which, in turn, allowed for an easy transition to real estate appraising. After seven years with ERAC, Gary transitioned to real estate in 2003 and began his appraisal training and experience with an appraisal firm in East Longmeadow, MA. Gary fulfilled his experience, training and education in 2005 and obtained his State Certified License.
Gary joined the FSI Appraisal team in the spring 2008 and has successfully completed his Certified General License in 2011. His appraisal experience and expertise is in Western Massachusetts, specifically the Pioneer Valley including all of Hampden, Hampshire and Franklin County. He has worked with several appraisal firms as an independent appraiser and currently works directly with several local and national lenders and brokers.
Gary currently holds a Certified General License from the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts, #75488, is an Associate Member of The
Massachusetts Board of Real Estate Appraisers (MBREA) and a member of
the Multiple Listing Service (MLS).
Properties Gary has appraised include single and multi-family residential
properties, raw/vacant land, commercial retail and office space, industrial
and land development.

Dan received a Bachelors of Science degree in accounting from Providence College, in Providence Rhode Island. For 35 years was active in the retail and mail-order sectors, in his families’ “Outdoor and Camping” store in Northampton. Dan has been working in the appraisal field since the spring of 2007. He is an Associate Member of the Massachusetts Board of Real Estate Appraisers and an affiliate member of the Appraisal Institute. Dan has worked on residential, commercial and industrial properties including raw land and land development appraisal projects.
